Jeff Kaliel - Experienced Class Action Attorney

Jeff Douglas Kaliel is an attorney admitted to practice in Washington, D.C., and California, as well as appellate and district courts across the country. He is a partner at Kaliel PLLC, where he focuses on class actions involving consumer financial services and other issues that affect consumers nationwide. Jeff Kaliel has more than a decade of experience in this work.

Over much of his practice Jeff Kaliel has centered on challenging banking practices, particularly overdraft and other fees, that have a negative impact on consumers. He has been lead class counsel in numerous nationwide and state-specific cases and has successfully handled contested class certification motions, dispositive motions, and data-intensive discovery. His litigation work has resulted in hundreds of millions in relief for millions of class members while contributing to positive business practices by financial companies.

Jeff Douglas Kaliel is a recipient of Washington, D.C. Rising Stars Super Lawyers recognition. Prior to private practice, he was in the Honors Program at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, working on appellate litigation. He previously served as special assistant to the U.S. Attorney in the Southern District of California.

Jeff Kaliel earned his JD from Yale Law School in 2005 after graduating summa cum laude from Amherst College (political science). He also briefly studied philosophy at Cambridge University in England. Mr. Kaliel is a former Army staff sergeant and veteran of the second Iraq war. He supports nonprofits including the Humane Society, Compassion Over Killing, and National Consumers League.
